WordPress 2.7 ‘Coltrane’ has gone live today. I don’t want to make a big post out of this as many WordPress experts as well as the Team itself already explained the main changes, functions and improvements of the new version. I’ve already said that I’m quite exited about what has changed and that I like it a lot.
One of the nicest new functions are threaded resp. nested comments. That means you can get in touch with your readers in a completely new way: Instead of responding like ‘@ Tim 5 posts above: I think …’ you and other commenters are now able to place their comment right at the bottom of the one they want to respond to. Take a look:
There are two requirements for that – Activation AND WordPress 2.7-ready THEME:
1) ACTIVATE this function in Settings-Discussion: Enable threaded (nested) comments 5 levels deep. You can manually set the maximum levels of interaction.
2) Your Theme has to support it! There are few out there that do so. AEROS does!

Hi Joe,
I love your Aeros theme! It is so versatile. It is truly a work of art.
Right now I’ve installed your theme on my wp blog and my daughter designed an adequate background. It looks beautiful but…something is wrong with the comments. It gives an error that says:
Call to undefined function get_avatar() in /home/betzi/public_html/blog/wp-content/themes/aeros/comments.php on line 24
I had to change to my old drab theme to be able to receive comments.
By the way, my wp blog is 2.3.3
Is there something I can do?

Hi Bettina, you need to upgrade WordPress, also for security reasons. Don’t forget to backup all data + database first. After upgrading, comments will work fine.

Hallo Johann,
habe dein Theme bei mir installiert. Super ohne Probleme.
Teste es mal weiter auf meiner Seite. Werde es dann vielleicht auf meiner zur Zeit nicht existenten Fotoseite (www.pospisil-frank.eu) dann zum Theme machen, da die jetzige eigendlich mehr technische Inhalte hat (ok ich kann ja auch ein anderes Hintergrundbild erstellen und es so lassen).
Also kurz gesagt, ich bin begeistert, auch von deiner anderen Webseite -die Money-Seite
